G1, G2, M1, M2, M1-L or M2-L licences are considered “Novice Drivers” and have limits on the amount of demerit points they can receive from a traffic or speeding ticket.
Novice drivers cannot be convicted of any one (1) ticket that has four (4) demerit points or more.
If a novice driver is convicted of speeding more than 29km/h over the speed limit they will lose their drivers licence for thirty (30) days.
Novice drivers cannot accumulate six (6) or more demerit points, e.g. two (2) speeding tickets with three (3) demerit points each.
The fee to reinstate a suspended drivers licence is one hundred and eighty (180) dollars. Any drivers licence suspension will dramatically affect insurance rates for up to three (3) years.
